Had it not been for the Hydrotherapy Pool my Chum might have died.

 

Chum had an operation and the vet advised us that swimming would be beneficial in his recovery. We had never heard of canine hydrotherapy before but we took him and indeed within weeks you could see the difference. His flexibility had improved and the swelling around his joint was nearly gone and he seemed so much more comfortable.

The hydrotherapy centre to which I was taking Chum unfortunately closed down and the nearest pool which was in Southampton had a six month waiting list.



 

My own concerns following Chums operations thankfully convinced me how essential it was to take action. The miracle of his recovery gave me the inspiration to go out and learn everything about the benefits of a hydrotherapy pool and provided me with the spark to seek funding to start my own business.

               

I carried out some market research and found that there was a real need for a hydrotherapy pool in the Portsmouth area. I received a fantastic amount of  help and support from 'Enham and the 'Fredericks Foundation' ready to start and open door training I managed to open Four Paws Aqua on the 9th November 2007. Also support from my family and friends who helped with setting up Four Paws Aqua.

As you might well imagine the past two and a half years have proved to say the least, exciting, exhausting and definitely most challenging. I will not pretend that over time I have shed literally rivers of tears because of the disappointments and let downs in getting my dream together.

But I have persevered and together with my team of dedicated volunteers, have been blessed by being able to help so many of our family of dogs. This includes recovering from operations ( like my Chum) finding genuine and lasting relief from pain, losing weight or even just having a great time in the pool. It all adds up to joyful tail waggles and a big smile on the faces of delighted owners and family.
